About Water Hardness Scale

An independent data resource dedicated to mapping and publishing verified municipal water hardness levels across Europe and beyond.

Our Mission

Hard water affects millions of households across Europe — shortening appliance lifespan, raising energy bills, and affecting skin and hair health. We believe everyone should have free, easy access to accurate local water hardness data. Our goal is to make that data understandable and actionable for homeowners, tenants, and businesses.

Our Data Methodology

All data is verified against European Environment Agency (EEA) publications and local municipal water board utility disclosures. We standardize regional measurements — German degrees (°dH), French degrees (°fH), and mmol/L — into a unified mg/L CaCO₃ format for consistent cross-border comparison.
